The vintage trends like polka dots never go out of fashion. Polka Dots are super fun, stylish, flirty and retro. This pattern of filled circles is almost everywhere– top, bottom, dress, bikini, lingerie, accessories.

Traditionally polka dots are used in the clothing of flamenco dancers and performers from 18 century. The printed fabrics became more popular and France and Germany began to make their own polka dotted prints.

Polka dots enjoying a real boom in 20s and 30s in 1926, when Miss America was photographed in a polka dot swimsuit. Even Minnie Mouse, wears polka dot dress on her first screen appearance in 1928.

Polka dots appear also in music, in 1940,  Frank Sinatra recorded the ballad “Polka Dots and Moonbeams”, inspired by fashion trends. Surely, everyone knows the song “Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini” released in 1960, possibly inspired by iconic Marilyn Monroe, spotted with polka dot bikini and timeless classic dress.

In the 1950s, collections from haute couture designers such as Dior, Balenciaga and Givenchy included polka dot patterns for dresses with full skirts, cinched waists and fitted bodices.
